Welcome 2 the World
Holy good lord, I just spent so. much. time trying to retrace all of the images I used in my Dolce post to A. Credit them, B. Ask for permission to use them if they were copyrighted (Almost all were!), C. Try to find public images to use instead, D. Learn all about copyright infringement, creative commons license, and Getty images, E. Replace some photos I had before, F. Delete some photos that I couldn't find a valid source for. What a use of time. Knowing this now will make future posts so much easier but trying to do this after the fact was extremely challenging. I've learned a lot in this whole process though. Mainly that I believe it is really important to cite your source as a sign of respect to the artist and to improve traceability. If sources were much more transparent, the process I just went through would have been a lot quicker. I am surprised and a little disappointed to see how many websites, blogs, whatever don't cite their images. It's certainly not the easiest task but it matters!
The difficulty with citing a source is as follows: First, the image you want to use is most likely copyrighted so citing it would put you face to face with the fact that you can't actually use that image (UNLESS you ask permission from the source--the response and response rate to such a request varies). Second, there are fewer images in the public domain, they are more difficult to find, and if you use Getty Images there is a gray bar running through the photo declaring, "Getty Image." What aesthetic bliss! Doing the right thing isn't easy in this respect, ESPECIALLY if you're a visual person (like me) and getting the best photo is really important to you.
At least I will have the opportunity to improve my image sourcing skills and better my understanding of copyright law. I will master this because quality images are my priority! (And I like having the opportunity to master things and then some--aka discover lots of good tricks. This is my own blog so I will say that finding images is actually one of my talents). So challenge accepted! I have inadvertently come to realize that my blog about sharing art is inherently indebted to copyright law. The great result of this is now I have the opportunity to be in contact with the artists I like--that is a pretty cool incentive!
All of this has me wondering how Tumblr is even legal. Hardly anyone on there is crediting photos. It is nice though to be able to reblog photos and build a blog purely for aesthetic reasons, not with any hidden commercial agenda, or intent to steal credit. That is truly my intention for here. (I still have a Tumblr that I use and love though :))
I will be writing a post about the steps, ways, tricks etc, to get the best images for non-commercial blogs as I discover them. It will be helpful for me to keep all the information I've learned in one place and hopefully helpful for anyone else looking to use images.
Also: God bless, reverse image search on Google

I'm hoping to do a post about Danielle soon! How fun are her paintings?!
